The Canmore Hospital Foundation is proud and honoured to be one of the beneficiaries of the Annual René J. Carignan Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by Wayco Electric.

Held in memory of René Carignan, this long-running community event brings together friends, family, colleagues, and supporters for a memorable day of golf, connection, and giving back. Proceeds from the tournament support Bow Valley Palliative Care, Canmore Hospital Foundation, and Canmore Junior Golf.

Each year, the tournament honours René's legacy while helping strengthen organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Bow Valley residents. From supporting local healthcare and compassionate end-of-life care to creating opportunities for young golfers, the impact of this event extends throughout our community.

Tournament organizers are expecting another fantastic turnout this year, with a maximum of 144 golfers participating in a Texas Scramble format. More than a fundraiser, the event is an opportunity to connect, reconnect, and celebrate the community spirit that René embodied.

This much-loved community tradition brings together local businesses, supporters, and golf enthusiasts for a day of friendly competition, connection, and giving back. Proceeds from the tournament directly support Canmore General Hospital, helping fund critical equipment, programs, and initiatives that strengthen health care in our community.

Registration includes green fees, cart rental, tournament giveaways, breakfast, lunch, and a steak dinner reception following play. Spring Creek Resorts is proud to host the CHLA Taste & Tour Fundraiser in support of the Canmore Hospital Ladies Auxiliary (CHLA), a dedicated and passionate group of community members who work alongside the Canmore Hospital Foundation to strengthen local healthcare.

This guided foodie walking tour invites guests to explore the vibrant Spring Creek neighbourhood while enjoying chef-inspired bites and thoughtfully paired beverages at curated stops along the way. The evening begins at 6:00 PM at the Canmore Opera House before guests are led through a memorable tasting experience celebrating local flavours and community spirit.

All proceeds from the evening support the ongoing efforts of the CHLA, whose volunteer-led fundraising continues to make a meaningful difference for healthcare in the Bow Valley.

This year’s theme is Hats Off! Guests are encouraged to wear their boldest, most creative hats for a chance to win a special prize.

The Sisterhood Summit: Embracing Women’s Health

On October 30, 2025, the Canmore Hospital Foundation will host the inaugural Sisterhood Summit: Embracing Women’s Health. This luncheon event launches the Foundation’s funding stream to promote women’s health in the Bow Valley.

For too long, women’s health needs have been underfunded and under-researched. Across Canada, women spend 20% more of their lives in poor health than men. Studies indicate that women experience heart disease differently from men, yet it is the leading cause of death in women, more than all cancers combined. Conditions like endometriosis take an average of 5.4 years to diagnose. From puberty to old age, women’s health concerns are too often misunderstood, minimized, and dismissed. 

The Sisterhood Summit aims to change that story in the Bow Valley by empowering women to take an active role in their own health. 

The Sisterhood Summit includes a three-course luncheon, a chance to browse and bid on silent auction items, and enjoy the company of like-minded local women. The program will unfold in the beautiful Vista Room at the Canmore Nordic Centre, with panoramic mountain views providing a backdrop for connection and conversation. The highlight of the day will be talks from our lineup of inspiring speakers:

• MC Heidi Widmer, Canadian Olympic Cross-Country Skier and CHF Board Member
  

• Dr. Chelsey Topping, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Canmore
  

• Dr. Tracie Risling, Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Nursing, University of Calgary

Funds raised will directly support women’s health initiatives at Canmore General Hospital. The Canmore Hospital Foundation has a proven history of transforming care with donor support, from expanding labour and delivery rooms in 2017 to purchasing hysteroscopes in 2025 that enhanced diagnostic and surgical capacity. With the Sisterhood Summit, the Foundation will now build resources specifically earmarked for women’s health, ensuring the hospital can respond to pressing needs both now and in the future. The Sisterhood Summit is more than a luncheon. It is the beginning of a lasting fundraising focus in Canmore. By participating in this collective effort, every guest will play a part in shaping the future of women’s health in our region.

We are delighted to announce the 21st annual Canmore Hospital Foundation tournament is back. This year, our tournament is titled The Pestell Family Canmore Hospital Foundation Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament will take place at Silvertip Golf Resort in Canmore, Alberta, on Friday, June 6th. This annual event celebrates community and raises funds to support our community’s most important resource: our health care.

You and your team are invited to join us for this lively “best” ball golf tournament. Registration includes green fees, cart rental, giveaways, lunch, and dinner. If you are interested in playing in the tournament, we’d be honoured to have you. To increase your impact, we encourage you to explore the many sponsorship opportunities. Funds raised support Canmore General Hospital, the hardworking health care staff, the patients, residents, and each and every community member whose life has been touched by our hospital in some form.

• Earlybird registration is now open: Register early for only $950 per team or $250 per player. 

• Regular registration is $1,100 per team or $300 per player.

• Registration includes cart rentals, prizes, breakfast, lunch, and a dinner reception after the tournament's completion.

• Non-golfers are welcome to register to attend just the dinner reception for a fee of $85.

The Canmore Hospital Foundation funds medical equipment, facility improvements, and programs that enhance local health care. This free event offers an opportunity to donate at the door—every contribution helps keep high-quality care accessible in our community.
